Classic Reef and Rainforest Itinerary

This holiday includes 3 nights in a remote jungle lodge situated in tropical forest on the edge of a lagoon and close to the jungle enshrouded Mayan Ruins of Lamanai. This is combined with 5 nights at the luxury Chabil Mar Villas in Placencia on the southern coast.

In the jungle you can expect to see Howler monkeys, crocodiles, toucans and many other birds whilst walking in the forest or boating on the lagoon.

The latter part of the holiday provides the perfect opportunity to take a fast boat to the outer cayes to experience the magnificent underwater world of coral reefs, brightly coloured tropical fish and maybe even nurse sharks and stingrays.

Day to Day

Below is an example day to day itinerary.

Day 1

Fly from London to Houston with Continental Airlines. Overnight in Houston (Room only).

Day 2

Arrive Belize City and transfer to Orange Walk. Travel by boat down the New River to Lamanai Outpost Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). (Approx. 2.5 hrs)

Day 3/4

Two further nights at Lamanai Outpost Lodge (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Choose from 2 activities a day that include visit to Lamanai Mayan ruins, kayaking on lagoon, night spotlight river safari, early morning bird walks.

Day 5

Transfer to Belize City and take a short propeller flight (approx. 40 mins) down to Placencia. Overnight at Chabil Mar Villas (Breakfast).

Day 6 to 9

Three further nights at Chabil Mar Villas (Breakfast). Excursions could include diving, snorkelling or fishing on the Barrier Reef with a BBQ lunch on a beautiful sand island, guided daytrip to the Cockscomb Jaguar Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary. Alternatively stroll 10 minutes into the lively village of Placencia with its shops, bars and restaurants.
