Adventure in Belize Itinerary - 14 Days

Visit the Cayo district and have some adventures in the jungle. There you will take an unforgettable journey into the Mayan underworld by entering the cave of Actun Tunichil Muknal. The trip includes a 45 minute hike to the entrance of cave, then short swim to entrance and climb over rocks to reach the caverns. Another day you hike deep into the rainforest to abseil a sinkhole, called the Black Hole as you cannot see the bottom when you start your descent which is 200 feet above the jungle canopy.

Then transfer down to the Caribbean coast to Hopkins to explore the barrier reef by diving or snorkelling. You may see Eagle Rays, nurse sharks and turtles as well as an array of tropical fish and coral. One of the day trips will be to the infamous Blue Hole made famous by Jacques Cousteau.

  • International flights from London Heathrow to Belize International Airport via Houston, Texas
  • All internal transfers, including domestic flight from Dangriga to Belize City

Day to Day
Day 1

International flight to Houston, Texas via Continental Airlines. Overnight Houston, Texas (Room only).

Day 2

Fly from Houston to Belize City. Met and transferred to Pook's Hill Lodge in Cayo district (approx. 3 hours). Overnight at Pook's Hill Lodge (BLD). Onsite activities include swimming in the creek or guided nature walk.

Day 3

Tour to ATM Cave, this is an energetic and exhiliarating trip that combines adventure with archaeology as you venture deep into the cave following your guide and with a headlamp to light the way. Once you climb up into the main cavern you will walk among the remains of Mayan pots broken in rituals to the gods, and skeletal remains in burial chambers. Overnight Pook's Hill (BLD).

Day 4

Tour to Black Hole drop, take a hike into the jungle and abseil down this sinkhole. Overnight Pook's Hill (BLD).

Day 5

Day at leisure to enjoy surroundings. Take an early morning birdwalk, hike the trails or tube down the river. *Optional excursions could include visit to Xunantunich or Caracol Mayan ruins. Overnight Pook's Hill (BLD).

Day 6

Private transfer to Belize City airport to connect with internal flight to Dangriga (approx. 20 mins). Met and transferred by road to Hamanasi Adventure and Dive Resort in Hopkins village. Overnight at Hamanasi Resort (BLD).

Day 7

Day at leisure to relax on the private beach, or stroll into Hopkins to enjoy the laid-back Garifuna town. Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD)

Day 8

At leisure. Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD).

Day 9

*Optional excursions may include dives to the outer atolls such as Glovers Reef or Lighthouse Reef (including the Blue Hole). Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD).

Day 10

At leisure. Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD).

Day 11

Half day trip to dive or snorkel the barrier reef which is 30 minute boat trip from Hopkins. Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD).

Day 12

At leisure. Overnight at Hamanasi (BLD).

Day 13

Return transfer to Belize City via a short propellor flight (approx. 25 mins) to connect with international flight back to UK.

Day 14

Arrive UK.
