Rainforest and Diving Holiday

4 nts Cayo District, 7 nts Turneffe Island Atoll

This holiday offers the chance to experience diving some of the most spectacular and remote dive sites in Belize, combined with a stay in beautiful rainforest. The holiday includes 4 nights in Black Rock Jungle Lodge which has a stunning location high on the banks of the Macal River. Included in your stay is a guided night walk and a guided hike which takes you across the river and into the tropical jungle opposite the lodge. Also included are guided visits to nearby Xunantunich Mayan Ruins and the ATM Cave which is sacred cave once used by the ancient mayans for ceremonial purposes (physical).

The second part of your holiday includes a 7 night stay at Turneffe Flats Lodge, which is located on the Turneffe Island Atoll. Your stay includes up to three dives a day, a night dive and three tank day trip to Lighthouse Reef Atoll and the infamous Blue Hole (weather permitting). Most dive sites visited are at Turneffe Atoll and are within 10 minutes to 1 hours boat ride. Dives usually include the Elbow; which is famous for schools of fish as ocean currents pass over a deep reef.

These prices are excluding international flights. Average flight prices to Belize range from £750 per person to over £1,000 per person at peak times (Christmas, Easter and Summer). Flight routes vary, quickest routes are via Miami, Houston or Atlanta and require a night stopover on the outbound journey and connecting overnight flights on the return. Day to Day

Below is an example day by day itinerary

Day 1

Fly from London to US. Overnight in nearby airport hotel (Room only).

Day 2

Met on arrival at Belize International Airport and transferred by vehicle to Black Rock Lodge in the western Cayo district (approx. 2.5 hrs). Dinner is included.

Day 3

Guided tour to ATM Cave (Actun Tunichil Muknal), this is an energetic and exhiliarating trip that combines adventure with archaeology as you venture deep into the cave following your guide and with a headlamp to light the way. Once you climb up into the main cavern you will walk among the remains of Mayan pots broken in rituals to the gods, and skeletal remains in burial chambers. Overnight Black Rock Lodge (BLD)

Day 4

Today you will take a guided hike on the grounds of Black Rock Lodge, your guide will point out native flora and fauna. You may traverse the Macal River and take a physical hike the other side affording views across the canyon. In the evening you will take a guided night walk and may spot red-eye tree frogs, bats, spiders, snakes and the possibility of a kinkajou or armadillo. Overnight at Black Rock Lodge (BLD).

Day 5

Guided tour of Xunantunich Mayan Ruins, this majestic Mayan Ruin is reached by a hand cranked ferry across the Mopan River and features an impressive main temple that stands at 130 feet high and can be climbed affording spectacular views across the surrounding countryside. Overnight at Black Rock Lodge (BLD).

Day 6

Transfer back to Belize City by vehicle where you will board a boat to take you to Turneffe Flats. The boat journey will take approx. 1.5 hours (weather dependent). Overnight Turneffe Flats (BLD).

Day 7

Dive the many amazing dive sites around Turneffe Atoll, up to three dives a day. One day in the week (weather permitting) you will travel early to Lighthouse Reef Atoll to dive the Blue Hole, and then a further two spectacular dives at Lighthouse. Overnight Turneffe Flats (BLD).
