Tranquility Bay Resort - Ambergris Caye
Tranquility Bay Resort is a small resort located 12 miles north of the town of San Pedro on Ambergris Caye. This is a laid-back and slightly quirky resort and is located in the protected Bacalar Chico Marine Reserve. It is the only location on Ambergris Caye where guests can snorkel from the beach and the closest dive sites are two minutes by boat.
Rooms are one or two bedroom individual cabanas that open directly onto the beach. Rooms are air-conditioned, have comfortable beds, kitchen areas and separate living areas, however, other amenities are limited. Each cabana has a small porch with seats overlooking the beach and reef crest.
Dining is casual and occurs in the wooden over the water restaurant with simple wooden tables and chairs or on the veranda overlooking the sea. Meals can be chosen from the menu and include fresh seafood and other dishes. At night the the lighting under the restaurant attracts tarpon, barracuda, stingrays and eagle rays.
Onsite facilities include a PADI dive facility, ocean kayaks, Hobie Cats.

Our comment: This resort is ideal for active families and couples that want to be close to nature and love to snorkel independently. There is a variety of marine life to see, including blue tangs, parrotfish and angelfish, plus spotted eagle rays and stingrays. You can spend several hours snorkelling at leisure and then relax with a bottle of Belikin overlooking the beautiful blues of the sea.
