Luxury Reef and Rainforest Holiday

1 nt stopover, 3 nts Cayo, 5 nts Ambergris Caye

Combine a three night stay in a luxury eco-lodge in the rainforest of Belize with a five night stay on the popular island of Ambergris Caye. Chaa Creek is a luxury eco-lodge in the western Cayo region of Belize and is located on the banks of the Macal River and at the foothills of the Maya Mountains.

The Mayan ruins of Tikal, Caracol and Xunantunich are all easily accessible from the lodge and there are numerous onsite activities, including horse riding through the jungle, sunset canoeing, jungle night walks, mountain biking and early morning birdwalks. You may see (and hear) Howler monkeys at the lodge and there are numerous birds to be spotted including Keel Billed Toucans, motmots and hummingbirds.

Then, a short flight across the Caribbean Sea and Belize Barrier Reef takes you to the popular island of Ambergris Caye. You will be staying at the gorgeous Matachica beach resort with its brightly coloured collection of spacious, thatched beach cabanas with chic interiors. The resort is reached by speedboat and is situated on a lovely stretch of beach that has views of the beautiful blue hues of the nearby barrier reef.

Excursions could include snorkelling at Hol Chan Marine Reserve where you can get up close to turtles, stingrays and nurse sharks as well as exploring the diversity of corals and observing the array of brightly coloured tropical fish.

Day to Day

Below is an example day to day itinerary.

Day 1

Fly from London to US. Overnight in nearby airport hotel (Room only).

Day 2

Arrive Belize City International Airport and transfer by vehicle to Chaa Creek in Cayo district (Dinner).

Day 3/4

Two further nights at Chaa Creek (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner). Onsite activities are included and can be chosen from guided canoeing, jungle horse riding, jungle night walks, early morning birdwalks, mountain biking and guided hiking. *Optional excursions could include visiting Mayan Ruins such as Tikal, Caracol or Xunantunich, visiting a sacred cave that the ancient Mayans used called Actun Tunichil Muknal (ATM), cave tubing, ziplining, abseiling

Day 5

Transfer to nearby airstrip to fly in small propeller plane to island of Ambergris Caye. On arrival you will be transferred by speedboat 5 miles north of town to Matachica Beach Resort. Overnight in Reef View Suite.

Day 6 to 9

Four further nights at Matachica (Continental Breakfast). There is a lovely stretch of beach at Matachica, also a Spa, freshwater infinity pool, jacuzzi and ocean kayaks. It is possible to kayak to the reef to snorkel from the resort. *Optional excursions could include diving, snorkelling or fishing on the nearby barrier reef, diving/snorkelling the Blue Hole, catamaran trips and manatee spotting.
